EXT. SAN FRANCISCO PIER – AFTERNOON
With a look of both confusion and anticipation, THE DETECTIVE glances down at his WATCH? waiting. It?s almost 4:40 now and his source still hasn’t arrived. Despite the stunning vista behind him, his mind is on the task at hand. This information exchange was bound to crack the case wide open. The SOUND of seagulls in the distance begins to grow.
THE DETECTIVE

(to himself)

C?mon already?
He checks his watch, a BENRUS SERIES #3061, once again. Its sweeping white painted hand with a red triangle tip indicates that only mere seconds had passed since the last time he looked. He scans the horizon one last time. The BUZZ of his phone breaks the building tension. THE DETECTIVE

(finally)

I?m exactly where we agreed

to meet. I was even early.
THE SOURCE (V.O)

Change of plans.
THE DETECTIVE

It doesn?t work that way.
THE SOURCE (V.O)

I?ll be at The Mark room 821

for exactly 15 more minutes.

Meet me here now or you?ll

never hear from me again.
The line goes dead. He pockets the phone, checks the time: 4:42.
THE DETECTIVE

(to himself)

Time starts now?
He bursts into a full sprint. He knows the spot well.

He also knows that he?ll be cutting it close. Too close.
