A century in the skies: Bremont marks 100 years of the RAF
Bremont strengthens its ties to the British armed forces with a trio of new timepieces inspired by the 2018 centenary year of the Royal Air Force.

What could be better for a military-inspired, aviation-mad watch British watch brand than the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force" With the milestone due in 2018, Bremont has kicked things off early with its 1918 Limited Edition watch, which draws inspiration from several historic aircraft.
In terms of design, the Bremont 1918 takes noted from the traditional RAF issue sector clock, originally designed to help track enemy and friendly crafts with stand-out red, blue and yellow triangles. Other features include an am/pm indicator to depict the iconic Supermarine Spitfire dogfighting in the Battle of Britain during the day, and the Avro Lancaster bomber flying at night. The incorporation of a telemeter, which allows the user to approximately measure the distance to an event that can be both seen and heard (such as a torpedo strike) using the speed of sound, is another first for Bremont.
Plus, in homage to RAF heritage, the three propeller blades that make up the watch?s rotor are crafted from metal and wood veneer from three original aircrafts that flew during WWI and WWII: a Bristol Blenheim, a Supermarine Spitfire and a Hawker Hurricane. These are complemented by a veneer of original wood from the Shuttleworth Collection?s 1917 SE5a WWI aircraft, which can be found at its centre in Bed...
