A. Lange & Söhne Launches Saxonia Annual Calendar in U.S. Exclusive Gray-Dial Edition
A. Lange & Söhne released the first annual calendar in its elegant Saxonia collection back in 2010. This year, the Glashütte, Germany-based manufacture is offering a new, highly limited version of the Saxonia Annual Calendar to its devotées in the United States, clad in a 38.5-mm white-gold case, a new gray dial, and a handful of subtle but significant details seen for the first time on a Saxonia watch.
A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Annual Calendar, Limited U.S. Boutique Edition (Ref. 330.039)
Like its predecessors, this U.S.-exclusive edition of the Saxonia Annual Calendar indicates on its symmetrically designed, three-register dial the time, date, month, day of the week, and moon-phase. Typical of this complication ? which is a notch or two, complication-wise, below the far more complex perpetual calendar ? the date and month durations are displayed correctly from March to January, with the wearer needing only to adjust the date indication once per year, as February transitions into March. The date, as per Lange tradition, is large and legible in a double window at 12 o’clock, while the moon-phase at 6 o’clock is built for extreme accuracy, needing correction only once per 122.6 years. Responsible for this functionality is an in-house-made, self-winding movement, the L085.1 SAX-O-MAT, which shows off its host of classical Glashüte flourishes behind a clear sapphire caseback.
