A Toast to Travelers: H. Moser & Cie.’s New Burgundy-Dialed Heritage Dual Time
Continuing a year of interesting releases that has included the hybrid-concept Streamliner Perpetual Calendar, mineral-dial Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Tiger?s Eye, and headline-grabbing Swiss Alp Watch Final Upgrade, H. Moser & Cie. returns to the news once more, unveiling its most traditional design of 2021 in the new Heritage Dual Time.
The watch joins Moser?s Heritage collection, which takes inspiration from a vintage era of watchmaking and channels historical design concepts into modern executions. Notably, it is the first travel-oriented timepiece in the collection, deriving its adventurous spirit from the brand?s 19th-century founder and namesake, Heinrich Moser.
At first glance, the watch appears to be a novel interpretation of a classic War-era pilot watch, taking stylistic cues from the same well as the Zenith Pilot and Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot Travel Time, among others. Apart from those similarities, however, the watch also bears touches of the Art Deco style that was popular in the decades prior to World War II and found in pocketwatches of that era. H. Moser & Cie. cites those timepieces as specific inspirations for this modern wristwatch.
The watch’s steel case features several vintage elements, including wire-inspired lugs; an enlarged crown which hints at, but doesn?t directly replicate, the antique ?onion? crown on many vintage pieces; and a rounded bezel over an otherwise straightforward silhouette. It measures 42 ...
