Bell & Ross releases the BR126 Renault Sport 40th Anniversary
To commemorate Renault?s Formula 1 anniversary, Bell & Ross has designed a model inspired by a 1977 Renault single seater, the R.S.01.
Bell & Ross joined forces with the Renault Sport Formula One Team last year, partnering to launch a series of brightly coloured motorsport watches.
It’s part of an expanded focus for Bell & Ross, moving away from its aviation roots: the brand has recently taken a more minimalist approach, as well as designing its own supercar.
The BR126 Renault Sport 40th Anniversary does have a tool watch feel, but in a round rather than square case, made of satin brushed steel measuring 41mm.
The black dial and yellow tachymeter reference both the Renault team colours and the very first single seater from Renault, the R.S.01. The BR126 Renault Sport 40th Anniversary and the Renault R.S.01
The Renault R.S.01 was the first F1 car to be powered by a turbocharged engine, making its debut at the 1977 British Grand Prix.
It was a less-than-glamorous premiere – theRenault R.S.01 was nicknamed the ?yellow teapot? by its rivals because it so often went up in a cloud of smoke.
Back on the BR126, the chronograph sub-dials in soft grey sit at 9 and 3 o?clock, either side of the pleasing 6 o?clock logo: the 1970s-era Renault logo sits alongside a chequered F1 finishing flag.
Turn the BR126 Renault Sport 40th Anniversary over, and a larger version is engraved on the caseback.
