Bell & Ross Rounds Out its Flight Instrument Family with BR 03-92 H.U.D. Edition
Bell & Ross famously planted its flag in the watch world with the introduction of the now-iconic BR 01 Instrument, inspired by airplane cockpit clocks, in 2005. In 2010, the brand launched the first of a number of variations that took cues from other onboard instruments, such as radar screens and heading indicators. This year, Bell & Ross completes this so-called Flight Instrument family with the BR 03-92 H.U.D. (Heads Up Display), a limited edition of 999 pieces.

The Heads Up Display in a plane’s cockpit is a transparent glass screen, or windshield, that displays essential data in a digital form within a pilot’s visual field, the aim being to keep the pilot informed while still keeping his or her focus on the target ahead with minimal distraction. The technology, which began with the military in the 1950s, has since been adopted for civil aviation as well as for the automobile industry. The watch, housed in a square case made of matte black ceramic and measuring 42 mm in diameter, re-creates this high-tech screen on its three-layer dial.
The dial, hands, and crystal combine to channel the look of an H.U.D. indicator.
