Christopher Ward Collaborates with Blue Marine Foundation On C60 Blue
Chistopher Ward is returning to their popular C60 Sapphire collection with the help of the Blue Marine Foundation to release a limited edition for a properly good cause. The Foundation works to protect the world?s oceans and the life that depends on their ecosystems, and this year marks their 10th anniversary. To celebrate, they?ve teamed up with Christopher Ward to design a limited edition watch, the C60 Blue. The watch captures the spirit of their work in modern dive watch style and best of all, the profits go directly to the Blue Marine Foundation.
The C60 Blue builds on the excellent C60 Sapphire, which we reviewed in full right here. A few big changes are worth noting however, and could signal more of what?s to come from the regular production model. The C60 Blue replaces the steel bezel found on the Sapphire with a scratch proof ceramic insert similar to what we see on the Trident Pro models. The navy bezel receives bright blue accents at the 12 o?clock triangle, and the minute index up to 16. The bezel matches the deep blue dial, which retains its Sapphire like transparency, but now features waves of solid blue meant to evoke the Foundation?s logo (itself a representation of waves).Â
The waves hold no pattern in their application so the effect produced is organic in nature, a fitting tribute to the Blue Marine Foundation and their work. You can still see the backplate of the movement along with the date wheel and other gears working away, meaning the char...
