Close-Up: Panerai’s New Radiomir Logo and Radiomir Black Seal Logo
Panerai introduced new versions of its entry-level “Logo” models, the Luminor Base and Luminor Marina, earlier this year, equipping both for the first time with a new in-house movement. Now the brand rounds out its starter-model collection with similar versions of the very first Panerai wristwatch, the Radiomir. Here’s what you need to know about the Radiomir Logo 3 Days Acciaio and Radiomir Black Seal Logo 3 Days Acciaio.
Panerai Radiomir Logo 3 Days Acciaio – 45mm (Ref. PAM00753)
Like their predecessors, which debuted at SIHH 2018, the Radiomir Logo models are powered by the all-new, hand-wound Caliber P.6000, created entirely in Panerai?s manufacture in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. The notable technical improvements over the outsourced movements that preceded them in these models include a three-day (72-hour) power reserve compared to their predecessors? 56-hour reserve, a balance securely fixed by a twin-supported bridge, and a device that stops said balance, and hence the running seconds, when the crown is pulled out. Both watches feature the classic Radiomir cushion-shaped case with the slender wire-style looped strap attachments that resemble those on the earliest Radiomir watches, which were worn by Italian naval commandos in the 1930s and ’40s. The cases measure 45 mm in diameter and are made of polished 316L stainless steel (“acciaio” in Italian). The wire lugs are reminiscent of those on early Radiomir watches.
