Counting Down to the Tokyo Olympics, Omega Unveils the Seamaster Diver 300M ?Tokyo 2020? Edition
Last week, official Olympic timekeeper Omega unveiled its new Seamaster Diver 300M ?Tokyo 2020,? a blue-and-white divers’ watch commemorating the long-delayed Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. The special edition arrives as the latest in a long line of commemorative Olympic timepieces produced by Omega and is the second one produced in anticipation of the Tokyo summer games ? following up the Seamaster Aqua Terra Tokyo 2020 Limited Edition unveiled in 2019, which marked one year before the then-official 2020 start of the event.
The ?Tokyo 2020? edition also comes on the heels of Omega?s most recent Olympics-themed watch, the Seamaster Diver 300M ?Beijing 2022? Special Edition, released at the start of this year and marking one year to the official start date of the Winter 2022 Olympics in Beijing. Conspicuously, this model was unveiled before the actual staging of the 2020 (now 2021) Tokyo Summer Olympics, as the date and corresponding release of watches have been obviously disrupted due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Seamaster Diver 300M ?Tokyo 2020? essentially brings a novel colorway to the original ,professional-grade Seamaster Diver 300M, specifically the ?Olympic Blue? colorway established for previous Olympics watches made by Omega. Its 42-mm steel case is topped with a ceramic unidirectional bezel with an enamel diving scale; it features a large helium-escape valve at the 10 o?clock position, and a screw-down crown flanked by smooth crown guards...
