Debuting at WatchTime New York 2021: G-Shock’s New Mudmaster GWG2000 with Forged Carbon Bezel
WatchTime New York, America’s largest consumer watch event, kicks off tomorrow at Gotham Hall in Midtown Manhattan, and attendees will be treated to a number of new timepieces hitting the United States for the first time. Among them are three new models from G-Shock’s high-tech, rough-and-tumble Mudmaster collection, the thinnest models ever introduced in the series, outfitted with all-new forged carbon bezels.

The G-Shock Mudmaster watch is described by the Casio-owned Japanese brand as “engineered for those who work in extreme environments scattered with rubber, dirt, and debris.” The new GWG2000 models (GWG2000-1A1, GWG2000-1A3, and GWG2000-1A5) maintain the series’ mud-and-dust-proof carbon core guard case but also boast a thinner and more wearable profile than any of their predecessors ? 16.1 mm thick, almost 2 mm thinner than previous models.
The case is 1.9 thinner and the buttons have a knurled surface.
The new bezels for added durability are formed by kneading finely crushed carbon fibers into a resin and subsequently heat-pressing it into a mold, a process that enables the production of lightweight parts with complex shapes. The watches also feature a new, tougher and more resistant button structure that combines a steel button pipe with a silicon buffer.
