Denim Diver: Introducing the Oris x Momotaro Divers Sixty-Five
You could be forgiven for missing it during last week’s barrage of new launches from the watch brands on the first all-online Watches & Wonders event, but independent, affordable-luxury brand Oris also had a significant product release last week: an update to its popular Divers Sixty-Five series, produced in partnership with Japanese denim maker Momotaro Jeans. Momotaro ? a well-known brand in its native Japan ? is distinguished by the craftsmanship of its denim, with each pair of handstitched jeans composed of fabric produced on vintage looms. The new Oris x Momotaro Divers Sixty-Five, works to channel this level of craftsmanship with a new and unique colorway within the series, accented with nods to the denim clothier.
The new model has the familiar silhouette of the recognizable 40-mm Divers Sixty-Five steel case, complete with its guardless crown and vintage-style, 60-minute diving bezel. This bezel is differentiated from others by its use of bronze, a material growing in popularity and increasingly in use by the Swiss brand. The dial of the watch has a green gradient style, with a darker outer edge giving way to a lighter interior. On the periphery is a white minute ring, while applied, bronze-colored hour markers accented with faux patina match the sword/baton, hybrid-style hands and their complementary lollipop seconds counter.
