Something blue: Watch Exports for September dip
According to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry, Swiss watch exports fell in September for the first time in eighteen months (since April 2017), down 6.9% year-on-year. The exceptions to the trend were China and South Korea, both of which posted double-digit growth (+17.3% and +26.8% respectively). Exports to the UK ? Switzerland?s fourth-biggest market ? were down 2%. Overall for the year, the industry is up 7.5% on 2017 (comparing January-September), but exports to the UK are down 6.5%. However, analysts GfK report that in the UK, actual watch sales were up 5% in September, with sales outside of London rising faster (+8.4% compared with +3.1%). Something bluer: Blancpain at Bucherer
