Generation Next: Omega Introduces Its Newest Constellation Gents’ Collection
Omega’s Constellation series has been around since 1952 ? predating both the Speedmaster and the “300” version of the Seamaster ? but has in recent years been relegated to the fringes of the Omega portfolio, at least on the men’s side; the ladies’ Constellation models received a makeover as recently as 2018. Omega will follow up on that facelift this year, with the announcement this week of a major new Constellation Gents collection, comprising 26 new models, a variety of case materials and dial colors, and ? for the first time in the series ? Master Chronometer movements.

The newly released Constellation models, all sized at a modest-yet-contemporary 39 mm, represent the fifth design generation for the venerable dress watch. The first in 1952, which famously sported a “pie-pan” dial, was followed by the now-iconic 1982 version ? with its barrel-shaped case with four “claws,” half-moon facets at top and bottom, mono-link bracelet, and indices on the bezel ? whose main elements have factored into every version since, including the softer, rounder 1995 iteration, the enlarged “Double Eagle” models of 2003, and the most recent revamp in 2009.
