Earlier this year, Omega announced the Speedy Tuesday 2 Ultraman Speedmaster. A follow up to the previous year?s LE, by the time most people had seen the news it was available, all 2012 were already sold out. Not only was this edition limited in numbers, but it was also extremely cool, celebrating a little known, almost mythic version of the Speedmaster called the Ultraman, which featured an orange second hand and appeared on the eponymous Japanese tv show. The new version upped the ante with more orange details and a hidden Ultraman graphic, visible only when glowing. Needless to say, the Speedy Tuesday 2 Ultraman Speedmaster is a highly sought-after collector?s item, already trading for more than the retail price.
Which makes this next part so very cool. Today you not only have a chance to buy one of these long gone watches, but also for well below value. StockX, an online platform billed as the ?Stock Market of Things? aimed at fostering a buying/selling experience that values transparency and authenticity above all else, will be offering one bidder the opportunity to buy the Omega Speedy Tuesday 2 Ultraman for $2,012. Retail on this limited edition was $7,100, with the resale market seeing prices north of $9,000. Bidding will be open from October 30th – November 4th, after which StockX will select one bidder to purchase the watch. Only the winner will be charged.
