Modest gold watches made with superior manufacturing and artisanal skills have a tradition in Glashütte, Germany, that spans over 175 years. The new Patria from Tutima is one of the latest examples. Its 43mm pink gold case pairs beautifully with the deep blue dial and the in-house manually crafted pink gold hands, making it a refined luxury dress watch.

While the watch face displays sophisticated minimalism at its finest, the genuine movement delights with the colorful and lush decorations the small Saxon town has been famous for since the second half of the 19th century.

The traditional origins of the manually-wound caliber Tutima 617 are revealed at first glance through the sapphire crystal case back in the form of the Glashütte finely embellished three-quarter plate with three ruby bearings set in screwed gold chatons. Also typical of Saxon fine watchmaking is the iridescent sunburst finish that adorns the ratchet wheels. The skeletonized and finely finished balance cock allows a free view of the manufacture’s own oscillating system. The balance wheel outfitted with weighted regulating screws oscillates with a frequency of 21,600 mph and contains a Breguet hairspring with a terminal curve bent by hand.
The Patria is complemented by a blue leather strap. The watch retails for approximately $19,000 when converted to USD.
