Hublot?s latest offering somehow reminds me of the 1992 comedy classic ?Honey; I Blew Up the Kid.? The Swiss luxury watchmaker took the MECA-10 movement that debuted back in 2016 and supersized it into a unique table clock. The manual movement inspired by the Meccano construction system was lauded for reimagining the manual mechanism and earned itself the reputation for being one of Hublot?s most iconic movements over the last four years. Highly technical and complicated table clocks are a dying breed, and creations like the new Hublot MECA-10 Table Clock are a much-needed shot in the arm to save them from extinction. The supersized table clock is four times bigger than the wristwatch. It?s based on 7.7 inches by 7.1 inches; yet, the timepiece has a very sleek look.
The case of the MECA-10 Table Clock comes in two different versions: one with Meccano-inspired angles and a ring in polished satin-finished steel, and the other one covered with black PVD and black coating for the bridges and supporting gear trains. Like the wristwatch, the table clock version also gets a highly skeletonized dial with a view of the beautiful manual movement ticking away. Similarly, it also gets a substantial 10-day power reserve like the wrist-worn counterpart, indicated through a display located at 6 o?clock.
