Intriguing Combination: Salmon Meets White Gold in Patek Philippe’s Ref. 5712
At this year’s Watches & Wonders, Patek Philippe introduced an elegant combination of white gold case and salmon dial for the Ref. 5172 chronograph. The new color variant, Ref. 5172G-010, is a sibling of the Ref. 5172G-001 with blue dial, which was introduced in 2019.
Apart from the watch face, they share the same features, such as the 41-mm case size, syringe-shaped hands and the mushroom-style pushers. However, instead of a blue calfskin strap, the debutante rides a classic brown crocodile leather strap. The inner workings remain unchanged: here, too, the hand-wound manufacture caliber CH 29-535 PS with instantaneous 30-minute counter and a 65-hour power reserve sets the pace.
This chronograph caliber is distinguished by its architecture protected by six patented innovations, including optimized toothing profile, precision adjustment of engagement depth and self-regulating zero-resetting hammers. This movement also features several distinctive technical characteristics reflecting the same concern for functionality and performance. Its aesthetic and its meticulous finishes are visible through the transparent sapphire crystal case back. Price: $80,430.
