Introducing The Longines Heritage Classic with Black Sector Dial
Earlier this year, Swiss watchmaker Longines made significant waves in launching a titanium cased, blue fumé dial version of their popular Avigation Bigeye chronograph. The watch was notable at the time not only for its intriguing colorway, but more importantly as it represented the latest example of the brand revisiting one of its popular vintage-inspired designs with modern materials and colors. This week, it seems the watchmaker is continuing this trend for the year? at least in terms of colors? now introducing a new Heritage Classic ?Sector? and updating the original 2019-launched design with a suave black dial.
At first glance, the watch is functionally and aesthetically mostly the same as the original 2019 launch, the foremost difference being this edition?s all black dial compared to the previous colorway?s silver, white, and blue steel style. With that said, the black version nonetheless maintains much of the appeal as the original option, including with a well-sized 38.5mm by 11mm steel case with slim lugs and brushed finishing, and of course its signature multi-textured, sector dial. In some ways, a closer look at this edition reveals the style as not all too different from the Baltic HMS time-only models, the sector- style inspiration for both drawing from similar vintage source material, though obviously executed in two different price points.
