Introducing the Omega Speedmaster “Speedy Tuesday 2 Ultraman,” Designed in Collaboration with Fratello Watches

In January of last year, the good folks over at Fratello blew our collective watch-loving minds when they announced the “Speedy Tuesday” Speedmaster limited edition, a watch born of their collaboration with Omega and based on the legendary ?78 Project Alaska III Speedmaster. Today, they aim to make an even bigger splash (and you know what, I think they succeeded!) with the Speedy Tuesday 2 “Ultraman,” a watch lovingly inspired by the orange-accented Speedmaster seen in the Japanese series, Return of Ultraman (by the way, Netflix just greenlit an Ultraman anime!). The originals are highly sought after watches and considering the ST2 Ultraman is limited to just 2012 pieces, I fully expect these to be, too. Most obvious is the central orange chronograph seconds hand. That?s lifted straight from the original. But Fratello?s Robert-Jan Broer wanted to go further, dropping additional orange accents throughout the watch. The small squares above the elongated hours makers are orange, as are the words ?Speedmaster? on the dial and ?Tachymètre? on the bezel. On the minutes totalizer at three, you?ll find the first three markers in orange as well, which is a playful nod to show (Ultraman could last only three minutes in his powered form). And the supplied woven mil-strap is accented with a bright orange stripe.
There are some other great flourishes here. There?s an applied logo right below twelve, and the dial is stepped?two nods to Speedmaster...
