Introducing the Oris Aquis Date Relief
Oris is no stranger to supporting conservation efforts. Over the past few years, we’ve seen a number of the brand’s releases in the Aquis collection focused on growing awareness for different water-related issues such as last year’s Clipperton to go along with previous entries like the Source of Life and Staghorn Coral Restoration editions. Oris is continuing this tradition in 2019 by launching the Oris Aquis Date Relief, its second release of the year so far.
Before getting into the watch’s specs, here’s a little on what exactly the Aquis Date Relief is trying to accomplish conservation-wise. Oris has partnered with the expedition swimmer Ernst Bromeis for this release to raise awareness for our most important natural resource, water. Our oceans, as well as our freshwater lakes and rivers, are rapidly changing for the worse due to the presence of plastics and other pollutants. The World Health Organization estimates that 3.4 million people die each year due to water-related diseases that are completely preventable. With Oris’ support, Bromeis is launching an initiative in 2019 called “The Blue Miracle.” Throughout the year he will travel the globe and swim across some of the largest freshwater lakes, starting with Siberia’s Lake Baikal, the world’s largest and deepest freshwater lake, with the Aquis Date Relief on his wrist in order to raise awareness for the issues plaguing our bodies of water.
