Introducing the Panerai Submersible Mike Horn Limited Edition – 47MM
Panerai’s biggest announcement of 2019 was the relaunch of its Submersible series of robust, hyper-masculine dive watches as a collection of its own, separate from the parent Luminor family. Shortly after the new models’ rollout at SIHH, we covered one of the showcase limited editions of the collection, the Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry Edition 47MM. Today, we turn our attention to another standout piece, the Submersible Mike Horn Edition.
Panerai Submersible MIike Horn Edition – 47MM (Ref. PAM000984)
The watch’s 47-mm-diameter case ? including the telltale bridge-type crown protector device, the rotating divers’ bezel, and the specially engraved caseback ? is made of EcoTitanium, a material introduced into watchmaking by Panerai and made entirely of recycled titanium. The case is water-resistant to 300 meters, and the bezel bears a newly designed dive scale. Underwater legibility is guaranteed by the use of copious amounts of green Super-LumiNova on the black dial, including on the large skeleton hands, the hour indices, and on the hands and border of the small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock. The inscriptions “Panerai Submersible” and “Automatic 300m/1000ft) are not printed on the dial but silk-screened on the domed sapphire crystal that protects it. The case and its distinctive crown protector are made of recycled titanium.
