Isotope HydriumX: Judging ‘The Judge’
It is always impressive to see small brands maintain a consistent pace with launching new models. One brand that does it well is Isotope, which gained a lot of traction in the watch world with its Hydrium X ‘Will Return.’ The design is based on the signs shopkeepers put in their windows when they step out for a moment. The follow-up release in the collection, the ‘Blink,’ walked a more controversial path, as it united the colors traditionally used for baby boys and girls and merged them into a single design. The design sought to make a statement that there are only unisex watches and that choosing a watch is explicitly personal.
Compared to the two formers, the third and newest addition to the series is much more streamlined. Named ‘The Judge,’ its colors are inspired by the traditional garb worn by judicial professionals around the world.
With a legible black dial and a 40mm micro-blasted steel case, the subdued nature of the watch allows it to be enjoyed in a more traditional way. As a dive watch, the Hydrium X is quite original, with its compact and robust design setting it apart in the highly competitive category. Further character is added by the unique shape of the hands, which are outlined by Super-LumiNova, as is the bezel. Complimenting the otherwise black dial are the red bezel and hands, which bring the concept of ‘The Judge’ even further to life.
