IWC introduces a new version of the Portugieser Automatic 40 with a stainless steel case and a magnificent salmon-colored dial. The popular colorway is enhanced by refined sunray finish, making it all the more striking as the backdrop of the signature Portugieser design. The design is characterized by a railroad-style minute scale, a prominent small seconds indicator at 6 o?clock, and Arabic numerals, which are rhodium-plated in this example.

The Portugieser Automatic 40 was introduced to the collection in 2020 as a compact and easily wearable case size. The origins of this early wristwatch harken back to IWC?s Reference 325 from the late 1930s that was soon nick-named “Portugieser,” as it was commissioned by two Portuguese businessmen.
This timepiece is powered by the IWC-manufactured 82200 caliber. This robust and precise automatic movement employs the famous winding system developed in the 1950s by IWC?s former Technical Director, Albert Pellaton. Using the movements of the rotor in both directions, it efficiently builds up a power reserve of 60 hours. In addition, components like the heart-shaped cam or the clicks are made of virtually wear-free zirconium oxide ceramic. It goes without saying that this genuine caliber is finished to the high standard of fine Swiss watchmaking.
