At Baselworld last month Nomos launched the Aqua collection, a new series of steel dive watches that are water-resistant to 200m. Well, not new new, as some of the models are familiar faces, but in new colours. OK, some colours are new, others have featured before in other Nomos collections.
Confused" Admittedly it?s not the most straightforward of launches, so we?re here to help. The watches themselves aren?t that complex, but the way Nomos organises its collections has become slightly difficult to interpret.
The Aqua collection ? or ?series? ? stretches across various existing Nomos styles: the Club and the Ahoi. This is much like the neomatik series did in 2015, encompassing the Tangente, the Orion etc. The Aqua series also includes some neomatik models across the two styles, running off the 3.2mm-high DUW 3001 calibre. The commonality throughout is that all the Aqua watches are water-resistant to 200m, and all are automatic as well (although only those with the DUW 3001 calibre are neomatiks ? make sense so far" The other autos use calibre DUW 5101, an upgraded version of the old Zeta calibre with Nomos?s Swing System escapement).
First up is the Aqua Ahoi neomatik, which comes in at 36mm; that?s 1mm smaller than the original Ahoi, although with the same elongated font and thin bezel. There are four shades: white, deep blue or ?Atlantik? (pictured above),...
