Maurice Lacroix Brings Back the Pontos S Diver
Right in time for summer, Maurice Lacroix releases a new version of the Pontos S Diver which was first marketed in 2013. For the re-creation, the Swiss manufacture worked together with its brand ambassador Lidija Lijic, a world champion free diver who holds the record for staying underwater for 5 minutes and 43 seconds.
Housed in a 42mm case with a water resistance rated to 300 meters, the self-winding watch is available in stainless steel and, for the first time, bronze. While the steel variants are available with a choice of black grained or white lacquered dial options, the bronze execution, which is limited to 500 pieces, sports a blue grained dial.
The hour and minute hands are facetted and lined with Super-LumiNova. Moreover, the minute hand is endued with a colored border. The hours are denoted by applied indexes and likewise lined with luminescent treatment. Subtle changes to the original dial design include making the indexes and minute markings more prominent. In addition, the date indication at 6 o’clock is framed by a raised border, making it stand out from the rest of the dial.
The crown positioned at 2 o?clock is dedicated to adjust the internal bezel. Placed on the flange of the instrument-style dial, it features a count-up scale for measuring the elapsed time spent underwater.
