Omega Adds Three Gemstone-Enhanced Watches to the Speedmaster Moonphase Family
Alongside the new Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 Limited Edition in stainless steel and the updated Omega Seamaster 300M Chronograph that we covered on Friday, Omega has also released three new versions of the Speedmaster Moonphase that offer a decidedly luxurious take on the classic design through the use of precious metals and gemstones.
The new Speedmaster Moonphase collection comes in a 44.25-mm case that has been constructed out of a platinum-gold alloy (Pt950Au20). The bezel ring is made from either polished ceramic [ZrO2] in the blue or green designs or aluminum in the red version (pictured above). In all three iterations, the Speedmaster Moonphase includes a brushed platinum Liquidmetal tachymeter scale.
As well as having blackened hands, the dial features 18K white gold indexes that are set with baguette-cut diamonds in the blue-accented model, rubies in the red version, and emeralds in, you guessed it, the green design. The moon-phase disk, located at 6 o’clock, is made of colored ceramic with dueling moons made from the same proprietary platinum Liquidmetal construction as the tachymeter scale. As with previous Speedmaster Moonphase releases, the new versions have two stacked registers. At 3 o’clock, you can find the hour and 60-minute display; at 9 o’clock, the date and small seconds.
