With this year?s Watches and Wonders show underway, luxury watch brand Panerai has debuted a new version of the minimalist Luminor perpetual calendar that was first unveiled last year. Called the Luminor Goldtech Calendario Perpetuo PAM01269, the newest offering by Panerai stands out with its tinted sapphire dial that puts the concentric calendar discs on display. While the overall design and layout of the timepiece remain unchanged, there are several design elements unique to the latest iteration. Starting with the case, it measures 44mm in diameter and is identical to that of the standard Luminor with a square shape and a round bezel. The case is crafted out of patented 18k Goldtech ? a gold alloy with platinum content that not only features a unique color but is also very durable.
The use of the dark tinted sapphire dial has completely transformed the character of the timepiece by offering a view of the inner workings of the calendar. The indicator at 9 o’clock that displays the second time zone via a 24-hour scale has a frosted finish, while the day and date displays located at the 3 o’clock position are framed in gold. The applied hour markers are executed in the traditional Panerai style with Arabic numerals for 12 and 6 and batons for the rest. Powering the watch is the P.4100 automatic movement that beats at 4 Hz and has a three-day power reserve.
