In the world of racing, it is crucial to design and engineer each component to feature a modular design to be quickly swapped out or interchanged. During a race, the pit crew swaps out tires and other parts from a race car in the blink of an eye. This has inspired Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis to create its latest special edition timepiece in exclusive collaboration with renowned tire manufacturer Pirelli. The two brands have previously partnered to introduce several limited edition pieces, but their newest collaborative timepiece takes horological engineering to the next level. Most modern watches feature some sort of quick changeable system for their straps. But the new Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli incorporates a new unique Quick Release System that allows the wearer to change the strap, bezel, and even the crown effortlessly.
The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli timepiece can be quickly transformed from full black to colors that Pirelli uses for its racing tires to denote different rubber compounds. Called race kits, these interchangeable parts available in red, white, or blue can completely change the look of the watch. The 45mm case of the watch is made of black DLC-coated titanium with a natural slate finish, and it is paired with a strap made of rubber from race-winning Pirelli tires.
