Photo Gallery: Omega Celebrates 60th Anniversary of the Speedmaster With a Spread of Historic References
Last night, Omega hosted an event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Speedmaster in New York City. It was largely a showcase of this year?s Speedmaster novelties, including the 1957 Trilogy Collection, but there were some added treats, too. The special guest of the evening was Lieutenant General Thomas Patten ?Tom? Stafford. Stafford, as most of you may already know, has an illustrious career. He flew aboard two Gemini flights, and in 1969 he was Commander of the Apollo 10 mission. Also of note was his role as Commander of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Flight in 1975, which was the first joint American/Soviet space mission.
Speakers aside, we were also treated to a small selection of historic Speedmasters. While the spread wasn?t quite as impressive as the one we saw at Baselword earlier this year it was still awesome see so many iconic watches in one place, not hidden behind glass. It took a lot of self-restraint not put one on. Below, we?ve put together a small gallery of some of the watches that were present. No shame if these leave you drooling.
