Rado launches three new watches as part of its True Designers? series
Last week in London, Rado released three new variations on the True watch at the presentation of the first Rado Star Prize
Rado has recently been re-establishing its industrial design heritage, teaming up with Konstantin Grcic on the Ceramica and creating the Star Prize, an international celebration of emerging designers.
Grcic was on the judging panel for the inaugural Rado Star Prize UK, held in London last week. The winner was Joachim Froment for his laminated wood and carbon 0.6 chair, a durable dining chair requiring minimal amounts of material and manufacture.
The brand launched three new watches at the ceremony, all collaborations with designers who were given the dial of the True watch as a canvas. It?s a continuation of the True Designers? series, which began earlier this year with another trio of collaborations. The Rado True Cyclo
Co-created with French designer Philippe Nigro, the True Cyclo is a minimalist combination of a concave silver dial with a satin finish and a case made of Rado?s signature ceramic, in a matte black.
Details include slightly recessed markers in dove grey, and a round date window at 6 o?clock.
For industrial and homeware designer Nigro: ?There’s something very reassuring about wearing an automatic wristwatch ? a purely mechanical object that keeps us grounded in this hyper-technological world.?
