To coincide with Roland-Garros, Richard Mille has launched the brightly-coloured RM 27-03 Rafael Nadal, its latest of many collaborations with Rafa.
Six years after it began, the partnership with Rafael Nadal continues apace. The tennis champion takes to the clay courts at Roland-Garros in hope of victory – he?s lost out to Wawrinka and Djokovic for the past two years, although we can probably let him off, given that he?s won it nine times since 2005.
The tourbillon is even more eye-catching than last year?s – albeit not quite as bright as the RM 68-01 Tourbillon Cyril Kongo.
While the 2016 edition had a red and white striped case, held on a yellow strap, this time the whole case is covered with alternating waves of red and yellow – a result of the layered Quartz-TPT. The new dial features two titanium alloy bridges over the fast rotating barrel and the winding tourbillon in a stylised V-shape. Underneath you can see the calibre 27-03, which has a 70-hour power reserve.
There?s a definite theme to the RM 27-03 Rafael Nadal: the red and yellow colour scheme matches that of the Spanish flag, whilst the skeletonised bridges forming a V-shape across the dial are supposed to resemble an abstract bull?s head.
