Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis is no stranger to innovation; the brand constantly focuses on experimenting with cutting-edge technology and avant-garde materials, often adopted automotive and aerospace industries, to create unique timepieces with industry-first features. It?s latest Excalibur watch is no different. The Excalibur Twofold is a perfect illustration of the watchmaker?s constant pursuit of unmatched creativity by blending the qualities of being excessively technical and supremely extravagant. The name suggests two completely different personalities of the watch. During the day, the watch has a classy and elegant persona with its stark white appearance. It transforms into an electric, Tron-like, lively timepiece at night thanks to the lume which in perfect Roger Dubuis tradition is anything but traditional.
The innovative timepiece in fact has three world firsts. The 45mm case of the Excalibur Twofold and the bezel is created in Mineral Composite Fiber (MCF), an ultra-white composite material made of 99.95% silica, which has been specifically developed by Roger Dubuis. In addition to that, a patented process was developed to light up every angle of the upper plate of the movement composed of MCF. Luminescent at night and lasting 60% longer than standard luminescent material commonly used. The third innovation of the watch can be found in its strap.
