Royal Additions: Seiko Introduces Five New King Seiko Models
Last year, on the occasion of its 140th anniversary last year, Seiko delighted its fans with a faithful re-edition of its King Seiko KSK, with only a scant few modernizations. Originally launched in 1965, this timepiece was distinguished by a distinctively sharp and angular design and powered by a highly accurate movement, and the re-edition followed suit. The only downside of the re-creation model was its limitation, as only 3,000 pieces were sold worldwide. This year, good news arrives via five new references, with each following the classic King Seiko look and making their entrance into the brand?s core line.Â
The King Seiko Collection takes many of the elements fans loved about last year’s limited edition and modifies them carefully, with a new, slightly smaller case size of 37 mm, highlighting the elegant impression. Combining mirror and hairline finishing, the case which is water-resistant to 100 meters is distinguished by the same sharp lines and mirror polished facets that were introduced by the 1965 King Seiko KSK. The same goes for the bracelet. The flat dial boasts meticulously faceted indexes, including the separately carved out double marker at 12 o’clock, and broad hands. It is protected by a box shaped sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. One reference (SPB279) features the same silver sunray polished dial found on the original KSK, while red (SPB287), brown (SPB285), and black (SPB283) variants are also available. The ligh...
