Seeing Red: TAG Heuer Releases Limited Carrera Edition with a Crimson Dial
It was only a couple of weeks ago that TAG Heuer introduced a special edition of the Monaco with a magnificent purple dial. Now, another legendary motorsports watch of the Swiss avantgarde brand gets a colorful makeover, the one and only Carrera.
First introduced in 1963 and designed by Jack Heuer himself, this racetrack classic is now introduced with an intense, almost fiery red dial. The bold and stunning color choice highlights the beauty of the signature design code with the tri-compax layout, focused on functionality and readability. And the fact that the Carrera Red Dial Limited Edition will be only available in 600 pieces will make it even more desirable for aficionados and collectors.
The debutante draws from the same pure, understated aesthetic that made the first Heuer Carrera a favorite among racing pilots on and off the track as well as chronograph enthusiasts. The silhouette of the original Heuer Carrera reference 2447 is retained, including the signature lugs and pushers, however now scaled up to a contemporary diameter of 39mm. The indexes as well as the hours and minutes hands are faceted, rhodium-plated and coated with Superluminova for optimal readability. The face under the glass box style sapphire crystal is sunray brushed while the three chronograph counters are snailed. This contrast creates a subtle play of light. Naturally, the dial sports the original Heuer logo and Carrera lettering.
