Blancpain, which last year launched its Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe timepiece at the WatchTime New York event, will once again be among the exhibiting watch brands at this year’s event, on October 14-14. (Click here for info and tickets.) Among its highlight timepieces for 2017 collection will be the new Ref. 6652 Villeret watch, the first in that collection with a day-and-date complication.
The Blancpain Villeret Ref. 6652 is the first in the collection to combine a day and date function.
The Ref. 6652 features a stainless steel case measuring 40 mm in diameter. Its matte white dial features a double window at 3 o’clock for the day of the week and date and a small seconds subdial at 6 o?clock. The day change is instantaneous, while the date change is semi-instantaneous. Leaf-shaped cut-out hands indicate the time on elegantly executed, applied Roman numeral indices. The gold rotor has a guilloché pattern.
The watch contains the automatic Caliber 1160DD, visible through a sapphire caseback, which has a yellow gold winding rotor, a glucydur balance wheel, and a silicon balance spring. Blancpain, like other luxury brands within the Swatch Group, uses silicon because of its low density, which renders the spring lighter and more shock-resistant; and its imperviousness to magnetic fields, which aids in the movement’s timekeeping precision.
