America?s largest luxury watch show, WatchTime New York, returns to Manhattan?s Gotham Hall on October 26-27 (click here for event details and to purchase tickets). As we count down to the big event, we continue to spotlight many of the new timepieces that guests will discover there. Today we turn our attention to the latest version 0f Omega’s vintage-look wrist chronograph, the Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer.
The Omega Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer “Steel on Steel”
The new “steel on steel” Omega Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer joins the growing stable of Omega watches built to meet the criteria of the brand’s demanding Master Chronometer certification, subjected to a battery of precision, performance, and magnetic resistance tests first applied to the Globemaster model introduced in 2015. Its dial ? here in white with black details, following up the black-dialed model with orange highlights from 2017 ? sports a vintage-look, motorsports-inspired minute track that first appeared on a 1968 Speedmaster. (A year or so later, after an Omega Speedmaster accompanied astronauts on the first lunar landing, the watch?s motor racing design heritage would be largely supplanted by its new identity as the ?Moonwatch.?) The 44.25-mm stainless steel case is slightly thinner than those of previous models because of a revamped sapphire crystal.
