The new Sinn EZM 1.1 is a reworking of the 1997 Sinn EZM 1

Sinn?s highly functional mission timers, co-designed with professionals, have been a mainstay of the Frankfurt-based brand since 1997.
Now, to mark the mission timer?s 20th anniversary, Sinn has updated the first model, the EZM 1. The new EZM 1.1 is a near identical match to the original, and will be launched as a 500-piece limited edition.

The EZM 1 was actually designed for German Customs Investigation Bureau. Since then Sinn has made mission timers for pilots, divers, firefighters, emergency doctors and rescue workers, bearing the moniker ?Spezialuhren?, or special watches.
While a mission time is essentially a chronograph by another name, it was required to be even more legible. As a result, the both chronograph minute and second hands are centrally-mounted and both hands are identical in length and width, reaching the perimeter of the dial, with only a pair of wings identifying the minute hand.
Hour markers, all four hands and the bezel 12 o’clock position are coated in lume for optimum legibility.
The 43mm stainless steel case is something of a departure from that of the original EZM 1, which was 40mm and titanium. But like the original watch, this case has been ‘tegimented’, a chemical hardening process that renders the surface virtually scratchproof – something we at QP are prepared to vouch for as we spent 10 minutes at Baselworld attacking a Sinn with a penknife....
