“eSteel” is what Panerai calls a type of steel that is made from a certain percentage of recycled materials. In the case of the new Submersible Quaranta Quattro eSteel, introduced at Watches & Wonders 2022, this total recycled amount totals to 72 grams, which is 52 percent of the total weight of the watch.

According to the eco-conscious luxury brand, eSteel has the same properties as conventional stainless steel. It is also notable, that, for the first time, Panerai uses polished ceramic for the bezel. It frames a dial that is likewise polished and distinguished by a color gradient. There are three color variants offered: emerald green (Verde Smeraldo), deep blue (Blu Profondo) and rock gray (Grigio Roccia).
Two bracelets in the same dial color are included with each model: one consists of a fabric made of recycled PET plastic, while the other is made of recycled rubber. Inside the 44-mm watch, which is water-resistant to 300 meters, ticks the automatic manufacture caliber P.900, a power house providing a three-day power reserve.

The Panerai Submersible Quaranta Quattro eSteel is available for purchase now via the brand and authorized retailers, with pricing marked at $11,300 USD.
