TAG Heuer celebrates Jack Heuer?s 85th birthday with a limited edition Autavia

To mark the 85th birthday of TAG Heuer?s honorary president Jack Heuer, the company has released a special edition Autavia
The Autavia chronograph was one of the first new watches released under the stewardship of Heuer?s CEO Jack Heuer back in 1962. It is fitting, then, that to celebrate Mr Heuer?s 85th birthday, TAG Heuer has launched a new Autavia following the design codes of the original.
It?s a 42mm steel model with a silver sunray panda dial featuring three black sub-dials, and the Heuer Calibre 02 automatic chronograph movement with 80 hours of power reserve inside.
It?s based on the TAG Heuer Autavia 2017, which was voted for online by the public.
The Autavia Jack Heuer Limited Edition has a fresher feel than the 2017 version, thanks to the paler SuperLuminova that has replaced the tan lume on the indexes and hands, and the black aluminium bezel featuring minutes as well as hours.
In terms of vintage appeal, though, there?s still plenty to go round: ?mushroom? pushers, a steel seven row bracelet with a ?grains of rice? stripe, and the old Heuer logo all feature.
The caseback has been engraved with Jack Heuer?s signature as well as the TAG Heuer logo. For Mr Heuer, ?It is one of my proudest achievements to have successfully converted chronographs into the Autavia wristwatch in 1962, so this collection has a special place in my heart: it was the very first timepiece that I designed.?
