TAG Heuer?s Carbon Aquaracer Calibre 5 watches are underwhelming
Tar Heuer is bringing the carbon fiber touch to their beloved Aquaracers. The TAG Heuer Carbon Aquaracer Calibre 5 Special Series, is a fresh and functional trio of watches that sport that have a dark and sporty look but barely any actual carbon fiber in the design. These watches are undoubtedly more about the look and the modern feel of that ubiquitous material known as carbon fiber than any constructive use of the lightweight and durable material but they do achieve the desired outcome of looking youthful and current.
All three watches feature a 41mm black PVD-covered titanium case, a rotating bezel in carbon and matt black PVD steel, and a black steel crown. The bezel has an interesting marbled effect which was created by injecting carbon fibers into a resin pressed at high temperatures. The dial also has a carbon effect, but this is a skillful recreation rather than the real thing. The three watches are distinguishable due to the uses of different colors to add details on the dials and strap. On the faceted indexes, the logo detail and the hands, the colors differ, with one model sporting rose gold details while the other two feature yellow lacquer and blue lacquer. The bright colors on the latter models are mirrored on the stiches on their nylon straps. The watches are powered by the automatic Calibre 5 movement which beats at 28’800 vph and offers a power reserve of 38 hours.
