The Art of Reduction: Meet Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Olivier Mosset
An exceptional collaboration between renowned Swiss abstract artist Olivier Mosset who lives and works in Tucson, Arizona, and the watchmaker Louis Erard resulted in a minimalist black-on-black model with a stunning take on the classic regulator-style dial? a signature of the Swiss boutique brand. Translating the artist?s abstract, reductionist codes onto the watch face, the Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Olivier Mosset is a celebrates art and purism or the art of purism.
Produced in a limited edition of 178 pieces, this statement piece measures 42mm x 12.25mm and is presented in a PVD-coated steel case with a matte sandblasted finish. The black lacquered background of the dial is sprinkled with sparkling inlays that make for a cool background for the three baton-style hands.
Reading the time requires a closer look, with top hand distinguished by a large hole displaying the hours, the middle hand with a medium-sized hole representing the minutes, and the smallest the seconds. Since the hands are aligned on different axes in accordance with the layout for a regulator arrangement, their configuration constantly changes.
Even the case back succumbs to the dark color way and is fitted with a black-tinted sapphire crystal, revealing the automatic Sellita SW266-1 ticking behind it.
Each of the 178 timepieces comes with a red seal bearing the words ?work of art ? do not wear? and two interchangeable black leather straps.
