English watch brand Pinion has released a new watch with a surprising entry-level price, the Atom

We?ve been fans of Oxfordshire brand Pinion ever since they launched at 2013?s SalonQP with the WW2-inspired Axis Automatic, which caused quite a stir with its bronze case.
Since then, of course, plenty of other brands have released bronze watches, but Pinion was at the vanguard of the latest wave of that particular trend.
Last year saw Pinion add four new models to its hand-wound Pure collection, along with a new automatic model, the Axis-II. Now designer Piers Berry gives us the Atom, which – going by the CGI images – will turn out to be Pinion?s sleekest watch yet.

One of the most exciting things about the Atom is the price – at £790, it marks a new entry-level price point for the brand. ?This is the first watch that I have produced that will be priced below the £1,000 range,? says Berry. ?Since the start of Pinion in 2013, I?ve strived to design a strong visual continuity that connects each of the watches. However, my challenge with this watch was how I could engineer a product that would lose none of our past manufacture quality for the price point.?
The aesthetic connection with past models is evident: the dial is decorated with numerals in a mixture of SuperLuminova white and a light yellow-brown ‘radium’ colouring.
