Three new green machines from Officine Panerai
Panerai?s newest offering has three different watches try a handsome green dial on for size: the Radiomir, Radiomir 1940 and Luminor 1950
We?ve seen Panerai do green dials before, in the form of Bronzo pieces in green. More recently, we?ve seen a Marina in racing green – that was actually for Harrods, whereas these new models will be available only in Panerai boutiques.
Panerai has chosen to update the Radiomir 8 Days Titanio, the Radiomir 1940 3 Days Acciaio and the Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante 8 Days GMT Titanio.
The Radiomir 8 Days has a 45mm case in brushed titanium, with a contrasting polished bezel. The sandwich dial was designed for maximum luminosity; in daylight, the hour markers are beige.
It has a pleasingly retro look, reminding us of this rather lovely brown dial on the Radiomir 3 Days Acciaio last year.
Inside the Radiomir 8 Days is a P.2002 calibre with an 8-day power reserve, visible through the caseback. It?s priced at £10,200.
Meanwhile the Radiomir 1940 3 Days (£7,700) features a hand-wound P.3000 with three full days of power reserve. The case is formed from a solid block of stainless steel, and measures 47mm.
This is the same diameter as the historic Panerais worn by the frogmen of the Royal Italian Navy; it?s a large watch, but has sleek integrated lugs and a cambered sapphire crystal. There?s a small seconds counter at 9 o?clock, and a date window at 3 o?clock.
