Timex Returns To American Documents Series With MadeWorn Collaboration
Timex launched their American Documents collection back in 2019 with a series of 4 watches. The goal was to cast a light on the American roots of the company, and source as many components as possible domestically, apart from the Swiss made movement. The result is stamped right on the dial, ?Made in America, Swiss Mov?t?. The watches, while simple at a glance, featured a beautiful dial design and brass detailing that boasted their American roots and assembly. Today, Times is returning to the American Documents series with a collaboration piece done in partnership with the LA based clothing brand MadeWorn.
The Timex X MadeWorn watch offers a symbolic take on the passage of the time with the past, present and future themes playing out across the dial, both literally and figuratively. The is split down its center, from 12 to 6 o?clock, with a black base and yellow labeling occupying the left half, and a yellow base with black labeling occupying the right. The two halves represent day and night, and our passage from the past, to the present, and eventually the future. The sub seconds at 6 o?clock is yellow and represents the now.Â
On the left, the dark side of the dial gets a ?PM? indication, while the right gets ?AM?. All 24 hours are represented in Arabic numerals around the dial. The AM/PM labeling is more thematic than anything as there is no 24 hour hand present, which feels like a bit of a missed opportunity with this one, given the chosen theme.
