Tom Ford has introduced the world?s first automatic timepiece made from recycled ocean plastic
Every year, tons of plastic is dumped into the oceans. And instead of simply remarking on the fact or ?tweeting? about it, Tom Ford decided to take matters into its own hands. In doing its bit towards environmental sustainability, the marquee recently launched the world?s first recycled ocean plastic automatic.
The sports timepiece is part of an entire ocean plastic range and features automatic movements, as the name suggests. It boasts a 43mm case and comes in semi-matte black or white and with straps in a choice of five different colors.
The first to be made from 100% recycled ocean plastic featuring an automatic movement, the watch ?contains no virgin plastics or non-ocean bound plastics and is traceable to the collection source? as the brand claims.
Further, the sale of each piece will help in ?permanently removing the equivalent of 35 bottles of plastic waste from the ocean? with the packaging also being eco-friendly. In addition to this, the transportation of the ocean plastic granules to produce the watch was carbon neutral, and its compounding was powered by solar energy.
Complete with a rotating bezel, Super-LumiNova coated numerals and hands, a Swiss-made automatic movement with date, a sapphire crystal glass, and a screw-down crown aiding its 100m water resistance, the Tom Ford Ocean Plastic Sport retails at $1,495 and is currently available on the brand?s official website.
