Tudor Goes Polar with the Latest Black Bay GMT
Among its releases at this year?s Watches and Wonders, Tudor expanded its Black Bay GMT collection with a new execution sporting a bright polar dial. Though the brand ensures that the dial is not quite white, as it has a silvery ?opaline? sheen, it is a fresh approach to the Tudor sports watch lineup that usually prefers a black or otherwise dark-hued dial. Maintaining many of the design cues that have become standard for the Black Bay GMT, the new model also features the coveted ?Pepsi? style bezel.Â
The exterior is relatively standard for a Black Bay, GMT or not, with a steel case measuring 41mm in diameter and a boxy, oyster-esque case. Its steel bezel is bi-directional with 48 notches, complete with 24-hour markers for its GMT functionality. The bezel sports a matte finish and borrows its Pepsi burgundy and blue colorway from other models in the Black Bay and larger Rolex families. A partially detached, oversized crown adds a note of aesthetic novelty to the look. To secure the watch, Tudor offers a three-link steel bracelet with a polished and satin finish or a black fabric strap adorned with burgundy accents.Â
For the dial, Tudor experiments with a vibrant opaline hue that incorporates slight silvery-grey hues into the nearly white backdrop. The geometric hour markers are enhanced with a dark-colored outline to ensure legibility, as are Tudor?s signature Snowflake hands.
