At Baselworld this year, Tutima Glashütte focused on developing its entry-level range with the release of a brand new line inside the fan-favorite M2 family. The M2 Coastline maintains the value proposition that the M2 collection is widely appreciated for and keeps the sober-yet-sporty aesthetic that many have come to love from this German marque. 
The Coastline follows in the steps of previous M2 line extensions, such as the Seven Seas, with a direct design descendent in a 1984 Tutima Military Chronograph. A classic three-hander with day-date, the 43 mm watch is constructed from titanium and has a water resistance of 300 m. The dial is graphite gray and has an almost iridescent sheen to it which is a marked difference from previous M2 timepieces that eschewed style in favor of utilitarian function. That doesn’t mean that this watch isn’t distinctly a tool watch in both aestheticism and ability because it undoubtedly is, but the new dial look adds a whole different sort of appeal to it. The antireflective sapphire crystal offers a glare-free view of the white hands and indices, which are also clearly visible at night thanks to a coating of Super-LumiNova. Inside the watch is the Caliber T 330, which also powered the M2 Seven Seas.
Overall this is an attractive and sturdy watch at a very reasonable price point. Sometimes brands introduce line extensions that don’t make too much sense. This isn’t one of those times. Although there isn’t muc...
