Unimatic Goes Bronze in Latest Collab with Massena LAB
Unimatic and Massena LAB present one final collaboration to close out 2022, and the watches bring something new to the table for the Italian brand. The launch consists of two new Modello Quattro references, and each features their newly slimmed down case rendered in bronze, a first for Unimatic. The watches welcome a selection of deep green to the dial to accent the warm case, one in a uniform matte texture, and the other presenting a diagonal tapisserie pattern atop burnt peat. The new material and color combination work surprisingly well within the confines of the brutal yet chic Unimatic platform.Â
The release of these two watches follows the successful auction of a piece-unique made by Unimatic in collaboration with artist King Nerd and Massena LAB. That watch featured a hand-engraved dial depicting the abstract design of an apple, the ribbon of a blindfold, and piercing arrows, inspired by the William Tell legend. The watch realized $12,600 at auction with the proceeds going to the benefit of the Swiss Institute in New York. We?ll have more on another watch from that auction coming soon.
The two references being released today by Unimatic and Massena LAB are the U4S-BRZ-ML, limited to 200 examples, and the U4S-BRZ-MLL which is limited to 99 examples. The ML gets a flat matte olive dial which pairs rather nicely with the bronze case (and octopus engraving on the titanium caseback), while the MLL gets the more complex tapisserie dial with tone on tone signage...
