The last time we caught up with William Wood, it was during a series of brand interviews at our inaugural WindUp in Chicago. We got better acquainted with the London based brand and the founder himself, Jonny Garret, and got a better feel for what their watches are all about. If you?re unfamiliar with the brand, their designs are inspired by the history of firefighting and each watch includes some form of upcycled firefighter equipment, whether it be a piece of brass from a vintage helmet melted into a case or a section of a fire hose repurposed into a watch strap. Take for instance their Triumph Bronze Jubilee Chronograph that sports a unique purple strap repurposed from a firehouse located in Japan which took the brand over five years to track down. William Wood recently introduced a new trio of field watches with the Fearless Collection to their expanding range. A field watch is a first for the brand, showing off new elements in their design while still giving a nod to their firefighter roots.
The William Wood Fearless has a more modern aesthetic relative to the rest of their lineup. The black plated stainless steel case sets the contemporary tone. The entire case gets hit with a sandblasted finish and pairs well with the charcoal textured dial. The Fearless includes a touch of refinement that?s not usually seen in your typical field watch.
