Zenith has revealed a new timepiece with blacked-out, stealthy looks as a pre-SIHH showcase. The latest offering joins the company’s Defy range and shares styling cues with the original Zenith Defy from the 1970s in terms of the case design. Called the Defy Classic Black Ceramic, it?s in fact the first watch in the Defy collection to use ceramic in construction. Despite that its case design is influenced by the Defy watches from the ?70s, the geometrically symmetrical open-worked dial housed in a tough black zirconium oxide ceramic is unmistakably forward-looking and modern. The geometrical shapes on the dial make the watch look complicated, but it is rather a simple three-hand watch with a day date.
The watch is powered by Zenith?s automatic Elite 670 movement, which has been around for decades. However, the in-house movement has been updated by a silicon pallet-lever and escape-wheel for improved performance. The watch is really slim, measuring in at just 10.75mm thick. It is paired with a black rubber waffle patterned strap with a DLC folding buckle that completes the stealthy looks of the timepiece. The Zenith Defy Classic Black Ceramic is priced at $7500 and will be available on sale from March 2019.
